Winner of UCT Award – Unmatched in Category!

RAVAN AIR is pleased to announce our most recent recognition in underground technology: Underground Construction Technology’s award for 2023 Gas Distribution Project of the Year. The category winners were announced at an awards ceremony during the Underground Construction Technology Awards Dinner in Orlando, FL, on 8 February 2023. Attending as a representative of the company was Director of Operations, Mark Sakach, along with Ray Hershberger and Ivan Hershberger from Tru-Tek Drilling, sister company. RAVAN AIR attended the event as sponsor for the Spotlight on Technology.

After initially reviewing our submission, judges determined that “among the nominations in the Gas Distribution Project of the Year category, […] only yours is of the highest quality, deserving to be named as a finalist. Therefore, congratulations, your submission has been selected as our consensus winner in the category!” We are honored to have been the only participant in any category to have had this distinction.

The Project

The project we submitted was a milestone project from February 2022 installing a natural gas line underneath Chartiers Creek in Washington, PA.

Using CUES Inc. inspection equipment while working alongside our sister company, Tru-Tek Drilling, our crews performed pre-inspection and mapping services to accurately locate existing sewer pipes laying under the creek to provide data to engineers designing the new bridge.

During the project, we were able to improve safety, save the involved parties significant costs, greatly improve efficiency, use several types of new technology and, most importantly, make a significant positive impact on preserving the environment.
