Five Years of Pipe Dreams Coming True for Drew

Drew Snyder may be soon celebrating one year with RAVAN AIR as a new hire, but he’s actually a familiar face, having spent the last five years within the RAVAN Inc. umbrella, the parent company of RAVAN AIR and Tru-Tek Drilling. Initially starting at RAVAN AIR’s sister company, Tru-Tek Drilling, Drew transitioned to RAVAN AIR last fall, seeking to expand his technical skill set.

Before joining RAVAN INC., Drew served his country in the Navy’s medical field. An assignment in Europe allowed him to travel and see what the world had to offer. He went on to wear many hats after his military service, working as a truck driver, then in environmental drilling. This diverse background proved valuable at Tru-Tek, where Drew’s knowledge made him a jack-of-all-trades. He operated drills, located shots (guiding the drill operator), mixed mud and could jump behind the wheel of any company vehicle with his CDL and training.

As Drew learned more about directional drilling, he realized his true interests lay in industry tech. While Tru-Tek specializes in horizontal directional drilling (HDD), RAVAN AIR’s specialty is using sophisticated hardware and software to create precise data of the above- and underground world to locate, map and inspect. This focus on ever-evolving cutting-edge technology inspired Drew’s decision to take a closer look inside the technical underbelly of the industry.

RAVAN AIR’s smaller, more intimate environment appealed to Drew, and the opportunity to expand his technical expertise was irresistible. Now, as a locator, Drew’s days are filled with a dynamic mix of brainstorming sessions, hands-on problem-solving and yes, occasionally venturing into the underground world of confined spaces and buried pipes with high-tech mapping equipment.

Innovation is the lifeblood of RAVAN AIR, and Drew thrives in this environment. There’s rarely a single solution to a problem, and the team is constantly brainstorming the best approach. Drew enjoys the collaborative spirit and the chance to learn from the company’s seasoned operators. His ultimate goal? To become one himself, a true technical mastermind within the RAVAN ranks.
